I have been so scattered-brained lately that I ended up making a checklist for my posts. I also broke out a title for this one because a milestone was reached; $10,000 of profit in the IRAs!

First lets run through what is going on in the accounts starting with the Options IRA. XOM and HPQ ended ITM and were assigned. XOM I had since the beginning of the year and ended up getting $44.35 in options income as well as $82.00 in growth for a total return of $126.35 (2.97%) on capital invested.. HPQ was right behind it with $14.35 in income, $48.00 in growth; for a total of $62.35 (2.49%) return on capital invested. OKE expired OTM it was reupped at the $40.00 strike price before it shot up this week, it is currently deep ITM. I also took the opportunity to rollout that ridiculous 3/19 call on T to one expiring on 1/22 getting a credit of $7.70 in the process.

Altogether options writing brought in $107.72 this week. OKE $40.00 call brought in the bulk of it $71.35. T brought in $7.70, and a buy-write on 2 KR contracts brought in the remaining $28.67. 200 shares of KR were purchased for $31.87 a share. Adding to this was $86.00 in dividends from MO. Adding all this up, the growth of XOM and HPQ (options income on these is excluded), the MO dividends, and this weeks options income I have added $323.72 (1.61%) to the to the Options IRA

Over in the Taxable I bought 55 shares of HPQ for $25.50 a share, bring the average cost of all shares to $24.46. I sold the $26 call for $22, and added $50 in growth from EPD when it was assigned Friday. $72 (2.27%) added to the taxable account as well as a deposit of $225 which is the first deposit of the year.

Okay, I had to get that upfront and out of the way. Like I said, I feel like I’ve been very disorganized in my thoughts  the last few posts and now I’ve got everything out there that I want to keep track of and I’ve come to the box on my checklist that simply says; Razzle Dazzle. I have had that phrase stuck in my head the last few days, so now its out there for everyone. Its also fitting, the IRAs are up $1832.92 (4.10%) since the beginning of the year. Current YTD return is $10,126.27 (27.77%). I actually passed the 10K mark on January 7th and have been hovering around it since, which is only 12 weeks (55 trading days) from opening the account. I am just blown away by the performance of the IRAs. And I predict that the next milestone 50% return will get here even faster now that I am selling covered calls in the Rollover IRA. I might even be able to hit 100% return within a year, I do believe that is more of a stretch though. I still can’t wrap my mind around it. $10,000.00 in 12 weeks…it sounds like a get-rich-quick scheme.
